1. Weights and Measurements

All weights and measurements on these pages are based on the metric system, millimetres and kilograms. Where the imperial equivalents are given, they are close approximations and may not be 100% accurate, although we try our best to avoid mistakes.

2. What do I get with my bed?

Each bed is shipped as a flat-pack and includes the frame, cross-members, hammock (pre-laced) and the pins required for assembly. An instruction sheet showing the step-by-step assembly is also included. No tools are required at all.

3. Which cushion should I order with my bed?

Each bed has a specific cushion size, but it is up to you if would prefer a larger or smaller cushion. The recommended size is given in each bed's description.

The recommended cushions are:

  • Schatzi Bed - 750 x 750mm (N.B. This bed is only available in Cape Town)
  • Tissi Bed - 750 x 750mm
  • Vincent Bed - 900 x 1000mm
  • Papageno Bed - 750 x 1000mm
  • Rascal Bed - 900 x 1300mm

4. How do I wash my Cushion?

All our cushion material is pre-washed and you can safely wash them in any washing machine, preferably at a cold water setting.

5. Product images are not listed as choices

There may be some cushions and/or covers shown that are not available as choices, this is because Shweshwe fabric is seasonal and not all patterns are always available. The product images are taken from stock items and unfortunately may no longer be available. If you really want one of the depicted fabrics. let us know and we will see if we can source it from our supplier.

6. Why does the Shipping Weights seem very high?

Shipping weights are based on either actual weight or "volumetric" weight, whichever is the higher. Volumetric weight is calculated by the shipping company based on the length multiplied by the width multiplied by the height and divided by a factor. So if a bed's actual weight is 5kg, the volumetric weight may be 20kg and therefore the shipping cost is based on 20kg.

7. How long will it take to ship my order?

All our products are hand made and hand finished and checked before shipping, so please allow 5-10 business days for shipping. Should there be an unforeseen delay, you will be immediately notified with an estimated shipping date and given the choice to continue or cancel the order.

    8. Where do the names of the beds in the Remembrance range come from?

We decided to honour some of our much loved and very much missed pets by naming the beds after them.

    9. How do I assemble my bed?

Assembly is very simple and does not require any tools, you simply pin it together. In your package you will receive all the bits required as well as an instruction sheet. If, however, you want to have a look at the instructions, you can download them. Follow these links for the PDF instructions for the Tissi and Vincent beds and for the Papageno and Rascal beds.

    10. Will I have to pay any additional Taxes and/or Duties on my purchases?

Some countries may require you paying import duties and/or taxes on items ordered, it is best to check with your local customs office to avoid any surprises. Please also note that our beds are made from wood, some countries may insist on them being fumigated on entry to the country, again, it is best to check. Unfortunately, as the policies differ from country to country, we cannot accommodate listings of these taxes and duties.

    11. Free Shipping

We often get asked why we don't offer free shipping. It is very simple, we believe that there is no such thing as free shipping - many sellers merely add the worst case shipping cost to their price. In the few cases where there is actual free shipping, it is not a sustainable business model and some end up subsidising the shipping to the extent where they lose money. We decided to list the prices you would pay if you collected from us in Cape Town and add the shipping based on the buyers location.

    12. Dropshipment

Have you tried to find a specific item on one of the many online malls? It can be a daunting task as there are literally hundreds of almost the same item. Using dropshimpment, we can select the items we think is best or most useful and list only those items, making your life much simpler. Dropshipment is a practice where the seller does not carry the inventory, but the manufacturer holds the stock and delivers it directly to the buyer. This means we can list more products that our clients need and instead of us importing it and then sending it on to you, you place the order and do the payment with us and we arrange with the manufacturer to supply directly to you. You will receive shipment tracking details and we will also keep an eye on your precious goods.
